Revealed: Chelsea fans don’t want Conte to cash in on Alonso

Marcos Alonso’s intrinsic role in Chelsea’s successful Premier League title bid hasn’t gone unnoticed.

Indeed, the Spaniard has made telling contributions both offensively and defensively in the Blues’ season-defining 3-4-3 system, as the lanky and imposing left wing-back overlapping Eden Hazard, and according to Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are now eyeing him ahead of the summer transfer window.

Despite the 26-year-old’s importance this season, there are reasons to sell. He’s produced some massive performances but probably isn’t what you’d describe as a truly top-class player – likewise, Chelsea stand to make a decent profit after signing him for £24million last summer.

With that in mind, we asked Chelsea fans last week whether the club should keep Alonso or cash in and much to the wing-back’s delight, or so we assume, 76% of Blues supporters want to keep him at Stamford Bridge – according to our poll.

If the Spanish giants want to improve their left-sided options this summer, it seems they’ll have to look elsewhere.
